Style Vs Fashion

As far as I'm concerned, style is far more important than fashion as it's personal and not based on seasonal trends or the voice of an elect few who each year get together and decide for the rest of us what the new trends will be.

Don't get me wrong, trends are important too as it's a yardstick we utilise to measure, but independent from mainstream is which really does it me. As an artist and accessories designer myself, I delve into the deep recessess of my inner world to create and so I can relate to other artists who also are fringe dwellers so to speak.

Since. Accessories in Melbourne Australia have recently caught my attention with their fluid use of form creating surreal wearable pieces of art.


Gold & Silver Ring

Although perhaps not practical, this gold & silver ring above can be appreciated for its artistic merit. Constructed from metal, this piece effortlessly wraps around itself reaching for the sun or moonlight.

Each piece is designed and hand made in the Melbourne studio of young designer Suzi Kyriakidis. Suzi is an emerging artist and designer who launched Since.accessories in 2006. Having recently completed a design degree, Suzi is now working towards her Fine Arts degree majoring in Gold and Silversmithing, at RMIT University in Melbourne.

Suzi also has an ongoing collaboration with Melbourne-based clothing store BODY, working with BODY designer and owner Dainy Sawatsky to produce exclusive ranges of jewellery under the Since.for BODY label.
